PSYCHOLOGICAL FIRST AID

Practical education for individuals who may support people experiencing distress after a difficult or potentially traumatic event.

Program Overview

Psychological First Aid introduces a supportive, non-clinical approach to helping people after distressing events. Participants learn to recognize immediate needs, communicate calmly, support practical next steps, and identify when referral or escalation is appropriate.

The program does not teach psychotherapy, diagnosis, counselling, or trauma treatment. It is not a substitute for professional mental health care.

Who This Is For

The program may be appropriate for first responders, workplace response teams, public-safety personnel, community organizations, team leaders, and others who may encounter people affected by distressing events.

The Forge Standard in Practice

Participants learn to provide calm, practical support, respect personal and professional boundaries, recognize limits, and connect people with appropriate resources or higher levels of care.
